Writing services

As a qualified professional writer, I provide copywriting, proofreading and editing services for articles, websites, dissertations, theses, and so on. I also have a carefully selected team with keen eyes who are able to spot errors and inconsistencies, and are able to qualify their findings with sound, academic references.

The services we provide are our professional check on your “shop window” – your last chance to present a good impression.

Proofreading service

Even if you’ve already checked your copy, often you are so involved in your project that there are mistakes you don’t see. Remember – you get just one chance to impress prospective employers and customers, leading them to wonder where else you may be cutting corners.

Here are a couple of examples found on a website:

DIYer advise

Proofreading fee

£7 per 1,000 words pro rata.

Light editing service

For this I will make revisions regarding clarity and basic grammar, which will be appropriate to the style of the piece.

Light-editing fee

£4 per 1,000 words.

Heavy editing service

This involves editorial rewriting and reworking of the text to make it suitable and appropriate for the intended style and audience. At the very least we will look at the following areas:

  • spelling
  • punctuation
  • grammar
  • typos
  • sequencing
  • cross-references
  • consistency
  • relevancy
  • citations
  • accuracy
  • use of words
  • formatting
  • layout
  • respect for specified house style

Heavy-editing fee

£160 fee plus £4 per 1,000 words. As an example, a book of 80,000 words would cost £480 to edit.

Website copywriting service

This involves writing only the text that will populate your website. It does not include the html code, although this service can be provided for an extra fee (I am also qualified in html code-writing).

Great care needs to be taken here as it’s all about getting accurate information across in an appropriate manner for the intended audience.

Web copywriting fee

£200 per day or £35 per hour. This is just a guide, so please contact me for more information.

Submission

Your copy may be sent printed (return postage charges will apply), or by email as Word 2007 (or earlier) files. Rich Text Format (.rtf) files are okay so long as you’re aware that layout and formatting can be lost with this format.

For Word files I will use either the track changes system, or mark corrections and comments directly on the document; the choice is yours.

Payment

A 50% deposit is required prior to commencing the work, with the balance payable on completion.

Payment may be made using PayPal. An invoice will be emailed to you. Please use the Contact form to get in touch with me.
